If you are using qualified Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 devices, you should have received an update from Microsoft offering you the chance to reserve a free update to the full version of Windows 10. Those who reserve a spot will be able to download the Windows 10 operating system after July 29, 2015. Now, the big question is whether you should take up Microsoft’s generous offer. So, here are the reasons why we think you should:
Windowed mode making a comeback
If you are one of the haters of the Windows 8 applications opening in full screen mode, you will love that in Windows 10, the apps will be opening in the Windowed mode. It’s much easier to use those “Close” and “Minimize” buttons just like how we were used to in the past rather than deal with the annoying full screen app features with swipes.
Operations will be faster and smoother
This is one of the biggest reasons why we think you should switch to Windows 10 when the time comes. Microsoft has spared no effort to make sure that applications load faster in Windows 10, so all applications load swiftly. We think this is due to the fact that the applications will be opened in Windowed mode instead of the full screen mode.
The Start Menu is back with better features
For those who use Windows 8 and 8.1, you know that the Start Menu (or lack thereof) is not good enough to live up to your expectations. Microsoft is bringing back the beloved and much missed Start Menu and this time, it comes with better features such as the customizable METRO styled live tiles.
Improved Command Prompt
If you are a fan of the Command Prompt, you will celebrate after you know what Microsoft has done to the codes of the MS DOS 3.0. In the past, it is not possible to paste anything into Command Prompt with our shortcut keys. Raise your hand if you are one of those who have seen “^V” on the screen as you accidentally try to paste prompts there! Well, that will never happen again as the Command Prompt is now improved to accept the action of the Ctrl + V shortcut keys.
The introduction of Task View
With Windows 10, you can now enjoy multiple work spaces or desktops on your screen. This new feature is known as the Task View and will surely be popular with graphic designers, bloggers, web developers or simply anyone who likes to organize their work with different app windows on different desktops. Here’s how you can use Task View.
Access Internet searches right from your Start Menu’s Search Bar
You can do online searches on the Windows 10 in a faster and more efficient manner, especially if you like to use the Bing search engine. By using the Search Bar located in the Start Menu, you can type in a search term, for example Shoes Bing, hit “enter” and an Internet search will be done through a Search Window.
So far, the reception to Windows 10 has been more positive than negative, so if you seek better performance and improved design, you should definitely upgrade to Windows 10. Especially if you are running Windows 8 and 8.1 which have many bugs reported by users, the switch will do you all good and no bad.
Will you make the switch to Windows 10? We at E-Valve Technologies think you should!
